Kate Comer visits one of the great capitals of the 21st century, London. She explores this great city that boasts of a vibrant, creative, and stimulating melting pot in which culture, arts, architecture, gastronomy, economics and politics thrive together.
Arriving at the famous St. Pancras International station by Eurostar, Kate checks herself straight into the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel right on the station’s doorstep. She meets up with the owner Harry Handleson to find out more about this epic Victorian masterpiece that has been recently restored to its full glory.
Kate then visits the famous St.Paul’s Cathedral, where she meets one of the country’s leading architects John Pawson who is showcasing an installation titled ‘Perspectives’.
The UK’s multicultural capital has become one of the world’s most exciting places to dine out and recently named as London’s ‘Young Chef Of The Year 2010’ by the Observer Food Magazine,Stevie Parle. Stevie talks about his influences from far-flung places he has visited and what makes his restaurant The Dock Kitchen so special.
As part of the London Design Festival, Kate visits‘100% Design’ and ‘Origins’ to purchase some cutting edge interior design and exquisite craft accessories.
In London’s West End – home of the theatre, Kate discovers the glamorous history behind The Savoy Hotel, which has been home to many famous artists, writers, actors, film stars, politicians and Royalty.
Finally Kate meets fashion designer Corrie Nielsen who has set up her studios in the vaults of Somerset House. Corrie shows Kate her recent collection and tells us what makes London a global destination of both class and distinction.
