Bazaar Marrakech
Marrakech (sometimes spelt Marrakesh) is one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting cities for visitors and shoppers. In this episode, Megan McCormick explores the exotic sounds and smells of the souk, miles of alleyways filled with metal workers creating sculptures, tanners and leather workers creating brilliantly coloured shoes, bags and furniture as well as weavers, wood-turners and carpet salesmen.
Marrakesh is rapidly becoming a fashion centre and Megan visits a catwalk show that combines the tradition of the kaftan with haute couture. She seeks out some of the most romantic hotels in the world, including the Mamounia and the Caravanserai.
Finally, she is intoxicated by the street performers of the annual Folklore Festival in the incredible Jemaa el Fnaa; a square so renowned for the range of food offered that it is declared a United Nations World Heritage Site.
