We highlight the best the West Coast of America has to offer, outside the major cities of LA and San Francisco. Justine Shapiro’s first stop on her day trip from LA is the desert at the Joshua Tree National Park. She then takes a quick trip down to Palm Springs, which has long been a weekend retreat for the stars escaping from LA. Next we head north to the Santa Barbaradistrict, a region renowned for its wines. Finally we journey to the Southern part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, famous for its giant Sequoia trees, the biggest trees on the planet.
From San Francisco, our presenter takes a day trip to Muir Woods where you can find huge strands of the massive 1000 year old redwood trees. She then heads out to Yosemite National Park, in the Northern Part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains taking in the breathtaking views the area has to offer. We then head to the California gold fields, before ending the trip at Hearst Castle at San Simeon, once home to the tycoon, William Randolph Hearst.
